Bee Farmers Association News 091007

"Bees don't get Foot and Mouth, or bird flu. Why should I worry?"In the Foot and Mouth epidemic, many BFA members had a lot of trouble because they were not allowed to go to their bees on infected farms.
For twenty-five years I have been lighting a smoker with intermittent success using a variety of substances for fuel, and whilst tending something over one hundred hives for the last ten years I have had plenty of time to consider the smoke and its effect on the bees and myself.
